What made Farcaster stick as a daily habit you? And if you’re infrequent / inconsistent (but happen to see this), what has you checking the app but not having it be a daily habit?
A perfect storm Timing, I was going through something personal and was probably just open to new habits Twitter was sucking I wanted to explore decentralized social, crypto philosophy sucked me in And the playful and engaging energy from early friends 👀 could name dozens but @cameron stands out the most
I got 1500 followers in 5 days and had 40 pretty funny or interesting interactions in the same period of time. Only 1 person wished my physical harm.
active badge and ability to experiment with a social networks in its early stages that gains enough traction i've read about various "lifehacks" and engagement metrics used in early social networks (that no longer work there) — and this was the perfect opportunity to try them out here
infrequent/inconsistent just due to time and limiting screen time outside of work prefer checking here over x given the higher quality tweets & ability to easily follow what everyone is creating when I have time/energy this is my favorite place to passively consume content
The IRL events at NFT NYC and FarCon helped me too - they need to come at just the right point in time, not too early before you get to know people’s sensibility, not too late before you churn off the app
The fact it's not a toxic place helps I met nice people like @cameron and @ccarella.eth (and hopefully you one day!) Easier to learn when not flooded with engagement farming or LinkedIn style posting so I don't feel like I'm wasting time.
something like @accountless.eth telling me I could message him anytime
Great people. Although I’m just starting here and haven’t made it a habit, I feel like there are lots of tech and entrepreneurial people around here, and that is an opportunity to learn faster about these topics, without the noise in pop social media.
I haven’t been on very much since download, probably 4 times. Im back on to check when I sent my first and only cast bc it marked my first day coding.
I joined Bluesky at about the same time and gave both some months of attention. Eventually drifted away from there. I’m compelled by the possibilities the FC protocol offers, gives me hope for the future of social media. It feels worthwhile to spend time here for many reasons.
scenius is🎯, I've bounced between scarcer social networks (lol Google), as well as experimented with web3 social, but there wasn't enough traction in most cases to easily maintain dialogue or really transition to something even more active.
Interesting, people, crypto native and like playing with things, people, feels more homely than the Twitter/x void
Interactions on twitter for an account of my size (1500) went wayyyy down over the past year. Over on Farcaster it feels so easy to be a part of conversations and there’s so much less fishing for attention. I think the ad model is the problem so FC has the right design to be successful at being sticky.
I'm inconsistent. Whenever I come here to post something, I also spend a bit of time to check out the feed. Partially because I'm curious and partially to make sure I participate in the community instead of just broadcasting to it. Not daily because I'm already too addicted to Twitter and don't need more distraction
culture (debates, sharing, learning) product (unique approaches)
I’m hedging as a coping mechanism. Present on all platforms committed to none.
Could we add the translate tool to wrapcat, not everone fluent english includied me 🥹
I needed a phone app where I could spend my excess dopamine in the most productive way possible. Warpcast >>> X/FB/Insta
Quality of discussion and engagement upon entry was supreme. Been chasing the vibe ever since.
it felt like the early days of reddit interesting, thoughtful, and engaging conversations became a daily habit as soon as the Android app released
Twitter replacement therapy + interesting people and not much botish engagement farming to filter through
fun contacts, ground for experiments, web version loading at 20kb/s
Twitter death spiral, was wanting to go into decentralized social media anyway, and honestly it’s a good group of people here with a passion for web 3 who aren’t selling influencer snake oil
I met cool people and had fun 😊 Anytime I took a break it was because I stopped having fun
The network was small and early and seeded with real, awesome, values-aligned people And that vibe is still here as DAUs have grown
I’m trying to be a daily user. What I enjoyed about Twitter was being able to see the daily cultural news
note taking, then turned into "smarter people than me", then turned into I can do anything with Farcaster.
As the community is relatively small, I can make friends and build relationship with them here better than others social network. And I found many quality members here!
Came for the memes + because I’m nosey and wanted to know what @j4ck.eth was on all day Stayed for the memes + commitment to high effort 🙂, uncensored debate/discussion A beloved corner of the internet for me 🫶🏼
- best iOS deso app - leaderboard gamification - excellent network of builder folk - cozy web vibe - real friends - dynamic frequent feature updates
It has better quality of posts, comments as compared to any other web3 social app. Less spammy content. Ease of use. No unnecessary UIUX. But people don't reply even if comments are relevant and not a spam which shows most are here to make primary posts and not to engage with others. Or maybe it's not true.
i changed phones and got too lazy to reinstall so now it’s on laptop and old mobile only
Good vibes. People engaging in a more open dialogue vs Twitter
I keep opening the app to see if the Reptile channel has been added.
I just love it here. But there is lots of information available which drags me here to learn new things. I would have minted some 15-20 NFTs just by knowing that 200+ people here have minted that. Many new topics & ideas share by others keep us informative and enhance our knowledge.
The death of Reddit’s API on June 30. I was a decade-long heavy redditor via the Apollo app. I quit cold-turkey in protest. Warpcast was on my fifth iOS page and had been collecting dust for months after I signed up. I moved it to the first page in the same place where Apollo once was. Muscle memory did the rest.
It serves as a dedicated crypto social media at a time when other platforms may have crypto discussions, but are otherwise inundated with horrific video and flame wars.
I enjoyed using it when I didn't need to make so many decisions about where the right place to post is (e.g. channels vs main timeline) — I also feel like the main timeline quality degraded as less content from channels surfaces. Compound this within becoming a dad, so I'm now even less inclined to cognitively exert
Not a consistent poster (yet), but check farcaster frequently. I do so bc I find this is a place of builders and provides a good pulse on what builders are building in web3
I wanna check my notifications, wanna chat with people. I've tried other social networks recently (eg. Airchat), didn't stick because I don't have friends there (ie. no new notifications).
The community. It’s X^(-1). Thoughtful conversations, good vibes and good faith
It was the mutually delayed start time of our first meeting that triggered it. Thanks to this ‘soccer’ match I knew @ccarella.eth and I had some shared interests and I’d have at least one friend on FC.
The interactions here are genuine. This is my place for water cooler talk as a WFH person.
It all comes down to the casts, replies, and community. Oh, and being on chain and settling on Ethereum.
The passion in the community and open communication between everyone on the platform. The early meet ups in Venice also played a big roll.
the convos here feel more genuine and i'm interested and enjoy learning about the projects ppl are working on. i feel like it rehumanizes me after each day of being in the twitter machine
I earn Warps for my bad takes Also the quality of conversations probably helps
High concentration of builders and people having genuine, insightful conversations. Every time I come to Farcaster I end up learning something new or trying something new.
The quality of posts. And that does include the "wowow" meme posts 🤣
I'm not here as often as I'd like to be, but it's my preferred professional platform due to the high signal to noise I'm most frequent on my normie twitter tho cause my irl friend circles (queer, trans, activism) are generally off any web3 thing
Smooth UX and good community vibes. Was also looking for an excuse to bail from twitter.
All of the possibilities here. How interoperable a FC account can be. The people here. The opp to build connections with so many people at such an early stage of something I really do believe in.
Inconsistent here. I think the key factor I can identify is that I know exactly what I come here for: high-quality blockchain-related content and personalities, which represent a very small portion of what I enjoy and desire from a new social web app. I think I'd be consistent for high-signal everything else. 1/2
a feeling of serenity that i couldn't find anywhere else online
short term: connecting with great people, SF in your pocket, different from core crypto culture, few noise long term: investing my time in a project I believe in
Almost everyday, but only because I’ve got a ton of work - which should lead to a lot of people playing my game almost daily for 17 weeks on… here
More users + more channels for different niches = wider variety of types of content, so that there's always something new to see even when checking multiple times a day But also it just takes a conscious effort to reduce the muscle memory of checking other apps and increase the time spent engaging here
The place is not crowded, but full of smart people. I want to join the (quiet) party, and to become a lil' smarter on the way.
Twitter being really bad has helped. I also think the UI and UX are solid when compared to contemporaries (Threads has kick ass image support though).
the fact there is meaningful discussion happening here. farcaster for is very much like listening podcast.
So far content on warpcast is not super diversified which causes inconsistency, yet the product UX itself is very solid that makes me wanna invest my attention rather than other twitter-copies.
quality people and quality content (and also the web client, being able to use warpcast on desktop)
lmao I replaced the position on my homescreen with Twitter :p soon I realised the quality here is way higher and now I have started enjoying to use it for that.
I went anon so could not use my following from old account. Twitter sucked. I started to get interesting convos here while being ignored on Twitter. That was enough. Active badge sealed the deal.
There was much less noise than on twitter + seeing how quickly people were building farcaster related tools was cool
To be able to start a new social graph with only smart people.
Channels and NFTs NFT discovery in situ was a great hook, channels then doubled down on actual conversations. The quality of replies matters significantly and was made the difference for me. Recruit more communities imo
There not being a high enough turnover of conversations surrounding the interests I have. It’s just a challenge facing multiple platforms in my opinion. Farcaster is definitely on my Home Screen with the other major social platforms so I’m still using it more than other new starts lol
channels bring me here more often before but the “fuck yeah we’re builders, look at us, aren’t we awesome?” mentality always throws me off
feels like one big subreddit of crypto builders who are focusing their energy on building a positive sum environment.
It’s the fact that people seem to be interested in what I actually have to say here Not sure if it’s because X was deboosting my posts or if it’s because Warpcast is just more my scene, but given a choice between saying what I think here or halfheartedly engagement farming elsewhere, posting here is a no-brainer
The UI on mobile is way better than Orb. At least feels less buggy and more responsive. Also Twitter being quite toxic ain’t fun
I'm really enjoying my time here because of the amazing community of builders and talented individuals. ☺️ However, I am concerned about the future. Maintaining this level of quality may be challenging for Farcaster, considering its small size and the difficulty of making accurate predictions at this stage.
Agreed with (and liked) several responses here. Also wanted to say that Warpcast is not on my “Wellspent” blocker — all the other visual, more addictive and big tech apps kick me off after 10 minutes.
The conversation. And the engagement. Didn’t feel like I was screaming into a void. Also people here get my humour. Always a plus.
I would use farcaster a lot more if there was a for-you style feed inside the Warpcast client
I try to avoid having a digital/social community that I check everyday. I appreciate that farcaster is not optimised to keep one addicted to checking it, but rather a space that you enter when you want to (idk if this is a conscious choice by the team)
The people. The vibe. The ability to get together on channels.
It's hard to admit, but shit-posts on Twitter are fun. So, my fingers by default go to X, but my brain pushes me to go to Warpcast. Doing it daily makes it a habit to go to Farcaster. Ps. If there was a reward to click on Farcaster app daily for 40 days, scientifically that would make it a habit.
The community of fellow builders. It's very refreshing to see the amount of interesting things people are building here.
The protocol. Seriously: The ability to build things on a permissionless platform that already worked well enough.
I don't think I have daily. habit - I try to lean into it more but what brings me back are interesting discussions or AMAs that are unfinished when I drop off. And even after new wave of joiners, it still seems that warpcaster is better place to find more interesting info on things that are being built in Web3
i’m here because of the people who are here, and for the experiments being run
Occasional user. I got interested through vgr but am an AI person, not a crypto person and therefore still figuring out if the conversations here are interesting to me. I feel a bit out-of-the-loop on a lot of what’s going on tbh. So checking for memes+vgr, might onboard into crypto ideas, let’s see
I check in daily but struggle with engaging due to time allotment, IRL work, founder work, necessity to use other SM as a Founder… Spread very thin but love the app!
Reach and engagement are still what drive my usage of social apps. As my network gets bigger here I use it more.
I like the familiarity the app has with casts & channels This is where the Gnars & Nouns are so that makes me wanna be more active Spaces inside the app that would lead to Tavern/Unlonely/Agora would be cool and probably convert me over fully. I enjoy listening while working.
I try to actively stay away from social media in general, do not have notifications enabled for anything actually. I check back in from time to time because of the community and conversations feeling less diluted.
Quality over quantity. So yeah, I'm all about the low-effort reply checks and balances. Following social chat across Web3 is fragmented AF but I'm now using Farcaster as primary source for finding new launches, discussion and networking. To the last driver on networking the geo channels like London is key pull-in
It really feels crypto native and like crypto really works here. Integrating NFTs minting and sharing into casts and channels and integrations with cool ecosystem apps like Buidler and Paragraph. A diverse, friendly community sealed the deal. Permissionless channels (when they come) will keep me here permanently.
I’m here for the rich and deep technical discussions that happen daily. It's always so easy to get an answer and pick up new knowledge from other users. I'm learning a lot and leveling up my engineering skills just by being part of this space! Lastly, I truly value having a say in the improvements around here.
I've been on the bird app for awhile - and while i have a fairly groomed list that i follow, there wasn't much real engagement. For whatever reason here the engagement and conversations are real/sophisticated and lack the shitposting/angst of the bird app. While I don't start many casts, i engage in threads a lot
warm, live & direct interactions, open minded community, aligned with many of my interests
Always been a lurker on social media. Farcaster has me coming back for the quality of the content within and probably has me doing my highest levels of interaction since MySpace !
the depth and sincerity of conversations both in casts and replies I see on here. Doesn't feel like mindless scrolling but more like thought provoking, intersting, learning something. But for real not just on the surface
Hard to say but maybe the ability to crosspost tweets and get higher quality replies worth engaging with ("positive engagement culture"?)
It’s an escape from toxic twitter and i like lurking on the channels that I know nothing about and learning about interesting new things. Also have met some really cool people!
Not quite a DAU (yet). Usually check in on a couple specific channels, mostly Design. Think I'd be more active if it was easier to find new folks to follow and organically discover content outside my following list. Algo feeds on Twitter, IG, etc. aren't great but they do make the platforms feel lively 24/7
Daily use: I was on gardening leave; Farcaster was adjacent to personal interests and provided a deep connection to the source (smart, inspiring folk) with minimal noise Infrequent use: I now spend less than a few hours on screens daily. I don’t have time to keep up, but I want to keep up, when I remember to
I'm generally feeling less inclined to use any social media these days...it's all become a drag
It felt familiar to me; like early crypto twitter. It was also the only decentralized social protocol that seemed like it had a reasonable model and path forward. Combined with a solid community, it was something worth investing in.
love the idea of channels here. special thanks for classical music channel!
The quality of the community is better than other social networks. I can read more useful information without spending too much time.
the fitness channel is great motivation for thief - that alone has made than app stick; kudos to bonus stuff like receipts.xyz @vm
Tribes + vibes Channels make it easier to find your tribe(s) Self-selection into tribes promotes positive-sum vibes (vs. PvP)
Why I started: Status as a service that feels more sovereign. Diversify a graph incase my twitter gets blocked etc. Why I continued: High signal learning from community, conversations were very useful (not _just_ entertaining), performant mobile app
Most ppl I generally follow on X/Twitter are still not on Warpcast yet. That makes it hard to stay on here habitually.
Channels. Before that I thought FC was good but just crypto people talking about crypto stuff; not much draw to check that daily. More niches like interest / location / token specific content = more relevant to me, specifically.
it works smooth and ui and ux is great. what i dont know why i dont have active badge!
Easy: meme quality. When the memes are flowing, the FOMO is high. More low effort replies are the solution
Great UX in warpcast. Doesn’t feel like shouting into a vacuum. Mostly good feels and smart people. A strong belief in the team and the technology.
I think the community being smaller and generally less toxic is a big selling point. My usage/style of social media consumption here is similar to Twitter but the outcomes seem different. i.e. I aim to be authentic, and I think there's a decent amount of authenticity here. Twitter incentivizes the wrong things IMO.
immutability of not being able to edit my posts. But fr tho, people I met that are so generous with their wisdom and insight, and with their time to even bother to reply. It's the casters 😌
Moving my bookmarks/apps from my devices where X used to be in order to leverage my muscle memory, following the same people that I already follow on X to curate personal feed and subscribe to Channels.
quality/vibes better than formerly-known-as-Twitter. formerly-known-as-Twitter cringe now.
Return engagement from the first handful of people I interacted with 🤝🔁
compared to other platforms, more builders/founders/people *in the arena* earnestly asking questions, trying to problem solve & offering perspectives also, access to an open community of builders trying to better the protocol/client in realtime
Personally for me it was the interactions and engagement from people that I probably wouldn't have gotten on twitter and it was also seeing a lot of interesting content; learned a lot from consuming on warpcast. Some of my friends that I tried to get on warpcast dropped off because they didn't feel like they fit in
Early Elon Twitter instability, lack of insane people when I got here, and now channels that align with my hobbies.
I really liked that the people in here is REAL. Twitter omg is more bots / shillers / marketers than humans
- nerd culture - high signal-to-noise ratio - atmosphere that welcomes all genders - level-headed discussions on hot-button topics I've always felt like an outcast on Twitter. Too much shitposting, sarcasm, and engagement farming. On FC my standard conversational style (earnest, bookish, reflective) fits right in.
I'm new to farcaster, 2 days here but the UX is better as Nostr/Bluesky. People are cool here. So i will come everyday
Reading the comments and i think i need to be more consistent posting here
Heavily gating invites very early was a 200 IQ decision. Most social networks are people scamming you, selling you crap, or bashing in their own narcissism. Farcaster was the exact opposite w very cool ppl just simply hanging out. The community made me fell in love w it, so I never cared much about the UI for example
I used to be inconsistent, but Channels has made it stick for me. I am curious if Farcaster will become a Reddit meets Twitter (but decentralized)
Inconsistent but 100% the people - I don’t like social media in general atm (hence the inconsistency) but browsing FC is a 10x better experience than any other platform
Big plus for me: I learn a LOT on FC. Other major factors: People are nice, and more importantly, helpful. It's not an echo chamber but a place for great discussions.
Now it's the people, but originally some credit goes to the desktop app. It was always open and an ⌘ + Tab away, so it built the habit way faster than most websites.
the people, the conversations, the signal to noise ratio, and the internet friends who became IRL friends
Learning from others. However sometimes I cannot read cast as much as I want because life.
The level of useful information and new and engaging people and casts I’ve encountered in my short time here have blown me away. The lack of fake and misleading accounts is so valuable, and I hope that doesn’t change with the inevitable growth. I’m here more each day and it’s more habitual than my Nespresso.
Cozy community, not toxic like X. No adds at all, and also less bots. Love the interactions, it feels more sustainable than any other social network right now.
Cozy folks here, less toxic than anywhere else. Also the conversation are great and sustainable. Let‘s see if it stays the same, I‘m optimistic. Besides that I love that I don‘t have to view any ads all the time.
intrigued by a budding dev community inconsistent bc no one is actually tryna get into the weeds like twitter
First the Builder channel — reason to check in daily. But it was FarCon & everyone I met there that made it really stick. So the blame goes to @cameron @grin and @adrienne 💜
Non-daily now. Mostly because when I stepped away for a couple weeks, I came back to confusion because a lot happened during that window. Made the effort feel higher friction. Trying to remember to come back more regularly in some cozy less FC based and evergreen channels. But once out of habit it’s a thing.
I've found it really challenging to get engagement on Warpcast, even after using Warpcast more like Reddit and posting directly to channels. Not sure why this is the case! I've been liking passively reading content but engaging makes me feel like I'm engaging into the abyss
Vibrant community. The number of followers increased rapidly. No xxx content.
Very focused and intellectually stimulating. Twitter is entertaining, PVP, and dramatic. Here it feels like most everyone is driven and on a mission.
- interesting people - no fearing an algorithm - small community, zero-to-no noise
Early Twitter experience (I assume, was late to that game) as promised
I love that that I can go directly to my favourite channels to get up to speed on discussions and the community is awesome. Less toxicity and less bots.
Lots of amazing builder here, and i need to be surrounded by amazing people
I just like the color purple 🟣🪻🙅🏻♀️♎️🙋🏻♀️💜😈🤷🏻♀️🦄👾🍇💟☂️♒️🍆☔️☯️🌂👩🎤🟪🚺🪁🧞
I really like the information and vibes. However, I feel that the fact that you can be tagged as a spammer/bot and that I like more amplifying voices than giving personal opinions makes me to be hesitant to contribute more though.
cool people here! my feed is full of cool content instead of rubbish content from farmers! keep it clean 🫡
