If we changed the Warpcast default feed to Highlights with 10x casts -- with a boost for new users -- and made Following the 2nd tab, what would your reaction be? 1. Glad 2. Neutral 3. Sad 4. Mad

3. I'm guessing here as well, the active daily users would probably not like it but the new users would like that they're discovering interesting content.

3. Spent a ton of time building following so I’m not sure how the algo for highlights would work. But the way it works right now, it would be hard to leverage. I think making the first tab being algo driven is important but I think it needs improvements before its the main one

3. Feels too early for vanilla algo feeds / not differentiated enough. Will be inevitable when network reaches a certain size and average following exceed dunbar’s. Would be cool to be able to collect casts and have those get boosts both from FC and marketplaces/NFT trending leaderboards.

2 cents (which is worth just about that) You can do this and it may help around the edges with some new user activation but it’s not a panacea. It would be better to test it with some new users vs forcing it on all users, or at least build in remembering which tab users prefer or used... longcast.jam.so/jjFsNr

Mastodon is neat in that there is an onboarding culture that encourages first timers write intro posts with hashtags and to follow those hashtags. That means that people with similar interests find and welcome each other. Its part of the app but also the culture. No algo tweaks necessary.

5. Meh Focus your energy on improving the algorithm for surfacing good content within a users immediate social graph (following/links/reactions), not global highlights. If you nail that, then you keep what’s great about this community as you scale users.

As a new user: It’s nice to feel you’re in control; you see what you want to see. If you don’t see anything you learn to explore, and work the network -- As someone who has got into the swing of things: Sounds pretty good (1 and 2) -- Wonder if there could be a threshold that triggers a change of experience
