What generation console + game have you spent the most hours playing?
Console: Sega Mega Drive (Genesis), Sonic 3 Non-console (majority): PC, Age of Empires and Monkey Island
I'm a Nintendo fanboy and spend most of my time on Super Nintendo and possibly even more on Nintendo Switch, but WRT games, I think Final Fantasy 7 wins it. Finished it 4 times back then. Otherwise it would likely be Witcher 3 / Zelda BOTW / Zelda Wind Waker I think.
I wasn’t a big video gamer growing up, so I picked it up during the pandemic Nintendo Switch Diablo 3
Destiny + Destiny 2 (PS4, PC) Other games I was really into: Quake, Unreal Tournament, StarCraft, Rainbow Six, The Sims.
mario kart on switch but goes back to nintendo 64 as well as smash brothers (don't play smash bros as much on switch for some reason)
Either Halo or CoD Modern Warfare. Madden and Fifa are also up there. All Xbox / 360
if we're counting Amiga in the 90s, XCOM:UFO PC: Skyrim Actually unsure on totalled hours across gaming consoles 🤔
xbox 360 / cod4 also the game that got me into design. started making forum signatures and logos for teams. but also had like 70 days played on that game 😅
PC + Counter Strike… Natural Selection and World of Warcraft come close In recent years Switch + BoTW
PC + Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. I spent so much of my childhood modding the hell out of that game, building maps, cheats — the engine was amazingly flexible for its time.
Diablo 2. used to pull allnighters. Starcraft for social gaming with friends
Original NES. Super Mario, Castlevania, Mega Man, Tecmo Bowl, Metroid, etc. $Olds
Xbox, Halo 1 -played over XBC with the Ogres Geometry Wars Retro Evolved, made top 10 score in the world on Waves
N64 + smash bros Dreamcast and Soul Calibur (I) Closely followed by ps3 + civilization revolution
PC - counter strike, warcraft 3, red alert 2. Internet cafes were wild back in Peru.. I’d play every Sunday from 10am to 6pm for a couple of years 🥶
PC: CS 1.5 to CS:GO then vanilla WoW. I don’t know how I kept good grades, a gf, still played outside. (Re: no sleep 😂).
PC. Tons of hours across UO, WoW, and LoL, but hard to say which era got the most.
GameCube + Smash Bros Melee, probably Other candidates: DotA Halo 2 Call of Duty
Gameboy + Pokémon Blue/Red. Although N64 + Goldeneye is pretty close. Played a lot of Halo 1 on Xbox, but definitely more hours on Pokémon and Goldeneye 😅
Started an Unreal Tournament clan in college and we became #1 in the world in CTF for about six months. Was the only real gaming era in my life. My mother would not let me have gaming consoles growing up.
for console - nintendo switch, stardew valley. league of legends for non console
Probably PC. Then again, I have logged some serious hours on multiple xBox consoles.
Diablo 2, esp. during Ladder Season reset in terms of consoles, PS4 x Witcher 3
PS5 - Assassin's Creed Valhalla PS4 - Diablo 3 PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 4 PS2 - Final Fantasy 10 PS1 - Final Fantasy Tactics N64 - Mario Kart 64 SNES - Mortal Kombat 3 NES - Mario 3 IIRC
PC only. Battlefield, Morrowind, Skyrim, Age of Empires 3, Sim City 2k, Swat 2, Black & White, XCom, Deus Ex, League of Legends, Kotor, pretty much any good game in any genre.
Probably Alien Vs Predator on PC for ~8 hours. Not exactly world record stuff but I had a hangover at 12 yo.
PC + Civilization 5, it’s a cheat, each game length is an average of 8hours instead of 30minutes so it has 16x more hours spent playing
Most hours maybe Nintendo Switch + Super Smash Bros Most meaningful hours PlayStation + Last of Us
Discounting PC, either PS2 or PS3 very close: https://airtable.com/shrJEX7wXssZIET6t/tbln38PrtaFbbcnoA
I think it’s a tie between: N64 + Mario64 & Xbox 360 + Sam Andreas (and modded it a lot on PC)
PC + Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. I consider this special training as important as my education.
1. Xbox - Kotor 2. Xbox 360 - Halo 3 3. PS4/5 - Tekken 7 4. GBA - Pokemon Gold 5. iMac - Stardew Valley 6. PS1 - YuGiOh: FM 7. PC - Worms Armageddon
n64 - a tie between 3: legend of zelda mario party james bond goldeneye 007
Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 but only because the old final fantasy games on PlayStation weren’t that long by design
