Expectations and signals overload are the walls. We are getting more signals that change expectations faster than ever and in more quantity and areas of our lives.
I lied down on sofa for "last 10min on phone" before going to bed and found myself actually going to bed almost 2 hours later
I heard good things off project Odin too: https://www.theodinproject.com/
Not at all. I'm not technical but my understanding is that with dapps you decentralized a small (albeit critical) part of the app. And public blockchains like Ethereum are slow in computing compared to urbit.
There are leats 2 different apps/ux layers at the moment: those from tlon.io and those of holium: https://twitter.com/HoliumCorp/status/1699840718775123988?s=19
Loved the books. I was mildly optimistic in the first 4 o 5 episodes, particular liked the whole triad of cloned emperors idea, but then lost interest. Feels too.. clinical
If you just focus on the UX/UI layer though, right now it is kinda like slack with document and gallery channels for tight nit groups
2. In theory this allows network service models that rely less on centralized "megacorp" services. Yes, someone still needs to keep the computer/server plugged in, it could be you or third party you trust. And if you decide to leave you leave with everything not just plain html/docs that another platform can't take it
What I as layman understand: 1. Enables the equivalent of taking your hdd from one computer and plugging it into another and all apps/network continue working as if nothing happened. You own not only your data but also the software that interacts with it.
Hmmm we are definitely not getting the same experience. On Android, replying or posting does 2 things. Both give me back the context of where I was before deciding to post.
Twitter let's you undo in context (at least for me) it doesn't "block" me from ignoring the undo opportunity. Gmail undo toast could also be a pattern for this. But I get that you're trying to ensure people can review content and channel while deciding if they should undo. Still think this is too much friction
Yeah, Twitter does this, doesn't it? The chance to undo is in context, not a "preview" screen. The preview screens makes casting seem more important/critical/risky than it actually is (for me at least)
Maybe because among those in your circle learning a language is less about its function and more about some aspirational quality. In spanish-speaking world learning English is definitely more about its function. Unlocking access to global content, jobs, etc
Maybe I'm reading too much into this quote, but in my view what is missing is not pronatalism, what is missing is profamilism(?) or prolocalism. Past decades departure from family towards individualism has reduced social cohesiveness and undermined long term and cross generational solidarity
Whos quote is this? Out of context this seems like a false dichotomy. If the goal is to preserve life, the whole lifecycle needs preserving. Life is about change, not ANY change, but not just preservation either.
Personally I find NFT management underwhelming in (all?) apps. I'd love to organize them, and use them (place them as widgets on home screen, wallpapers) so I say that NFT features would be nice paid addon
Farcasters, curious as too how warpcast looks like on tiny screen of a flip phone?
Representative Democracy peaked, is overated and is in clear crisis. a hyper connected society needs to rule through sortition: a standing group of randomly selected delegates replace pro politicians to vote on matters until term ends or until constituents remove delegation to vote as individuals. Tech enables this.
Android: 5 (Zerion) then 1 iOS: 3 then 1 then 5 (Zerion) Definitely not 4.
