GM casters ☀️ Doing an AMA for the next few hours since it's been a while. Hit me with your questions!
What’s the main way farcaster in onboarding new users today and how do you think about incentivizing activity on the protocol?
Biggest unexpected things you’ve learned while building Farcaster & Warpcast so far?
gm, thanks for all you do! can you share the next 3 items on the dev roadmap? any chance to move up priority to onboard flink/cast signups into warpcast?
warps could evolve in a number of different ways. What are one or two that seem potentially attractive to you?
what was the behind the scenes like navigating the idea maze for warps & channels? both seem to be important primitives that the team is betting big on right now
how do you plan to encourage identity composability going into 2024? how important are node packages and developer relations compared to protocol improvements?
Are there any particular Farcaster client ideas that you would like to see someone build?
Its December 2024 and Farcaster now has 5m qDaus, what drivers of growth led you there?
As @owocki mentioned, it would be interesting to implement QF on top of FC. From my understanding, the basic primitive we need is tipping. Does this sound like a useful feature for FC/Warpcast?
Farcaster Infrastructure wise, what's something you wish you would've done from the start but now it's too late?
A developer wants to add a new feature to Warpcast, what's the to go about it (RFC process / just make a PR / no process currently)? Let's say for example I want to add syntax highlighting.
Which board games do you play? I’ve been trying to get more into some lesser-known ones as all I’ve played for years is Catan and it’s relative expansion packs here and there
what has been the most important rave you’ve ever been to? (important not in the sense of “big”. im picturing the whole scene. being there. the people you were with. the music. it all.) who was playing?
DWR once said your greatest superpower as a technical leader is limiting scope. Do you agree, and how do you accomplish this?
How long do you think a cohesive “Farcaster vibe” can last? What are the limiters/bottlenecks you see with that?
How do you think about farcaster vs other social apps in web3? What do you want to be known for? Do you see farcaster as having a niche? Do you want to have the mainstream bullhorn/universal protocol for speech mantle?
I've noticed a lot less engagement in my posts lately and it kinda coincides with the day I had to delete one of my casts (a bounty that could have made people lose money if they didn't read the bounty properly). Could it be related? Or is it just that my casts suck more lately? :)
What was your initial opinion and now current perspective looking back on the wowow phase?
Any recommendations for a current CS student in building a good career in software development?
If Farcaster were to die (hopefully it doesn't), what would it's obituary say?
Why do new subscribers to Warpcast are set up to follow random sets of people and how are these people determined? For example, I'm following you. I don't think I made this choice actively. But even if I did in your case, I'm following at least 20-30 people that I never actively chose, at least not knowingly.
Any plans to support video? There is still no good place for artists other than X. You won't see meaningful numbers of artists on Farcaster until video works as well as images. If the answer is "it's too expensive," provide an option to pay for the storage. I'm paying X $180 a year. I can pay more than $12 to Warpcast.
Do you see yourself being less involved in protocol development when more of the community takes over? If so, what would you like to focus on?
If Onchain is the new Online. Is it too crazy to think to start using Farcaster like IRC instead of twitter? Technically crazy? Feasible?
What does your role look like at the moment, as in how is your time divided, and how do you expect that to change over time?
What’s the timeline on dms and groupchats . Why are they ephemeral currently. Any plans for xmtp
How does an ideal candidate for the “Staff+ React Engineer” or similar role look like?
you're in french mcdonalds, you order fries, they come with mayo your reaction?
What’s an data analysis you would like to see around the Farcaster ecosystem?
How many people are working in Team Farcaster currently? Do you have any plans for further expansion?
How’s it been trying to raise a family and be a founder? What are some of the less known things about being a CTO of a startup? What’s your superpower?
An extremely delayed question – what's the thinking about account management on the Warpcast client today? Many of us have 2 accounts (not sure if this is standard. In my case, my personal and a company account) and have trouble switching between the two How are you thinking about this & what are the tradeoffs?
