This is cruelly phrased and misleadingly stated. In his work generally Hurlburt argues that 20-50% of people have an inner monologue frequently, while almost everyone does sometimes. If you have an inner monologue anon, you are far from abnormal. Also this 2011 blog post was based on a survey of 30 students.
Itās funny this has been brought up since I was just thinking about how the human language may have slowed down the thought process and if individuals think quicker or slower based on the language they know. I read Stephen Hawkins built diagrams and worked problems out visualizing 3D models in his mind.
