There might be some long term side effects from what heā€™s saying https://youtu.be/zNzcP1II7ns

it's telling that a bunch of doctors who perform these surgeries still wear glasses (but seriously: lack of longitudinal data is what should give you pause)

edge case but if you do contact sports you should get PRISM or PRK instead of LASIK

(5 years in) a serious downside I havenā€™t anticipated at all is that you start to notice TOO MUCH. Overwhelming amount of detail. (iā€™ve got perfect, aka ā€œdiffraction-limited onlyā€ vision from what I understand) Latest lasik versions cover a large FOV so the night vision aint as impacted as stories say btw

some people get dry eye or MGD or something. I ran some research with people who got lasik, apparently, back then, the technology wasnā€™t all there but it seems better now

I can tell you a story of my friend but it will terrify you to your very core. If you want to know then google corneal neuropathy. Long story short, after 6yrs of nightmare sheā€™s doing okay but she will be on meds for the rest of her life.

Didnā€™t do it, but wouldnā€™t if you have posture issues of any kind. Iā€™ve been fixing my posture and changing my glasses loosened things up. Surgery can lock you up too.

pls get the tests that confirm your eligibility for lasik(mainly topo and pachy) at two different places to compare results before you go for it. learned this the hard way, living with consequences for 10 years now.

As one data point, my brother had a corneal issue that persisted for quite a while and now has to use eye drops every morning or he has severe dryness issues. But generally, I hear amazing things.

Iā€™ve wanted LASIK for years, every time I look into it 96% of people say itā€™s the best decision theyā€™ve ever made. The other 4% have horrible side effects that never recover. Iā€™m an unlucky person šŸ˜…, so contacts for me

I have been forced to always wear red glasses, and for some reason i frequently don yellow tighty whities and blue spandex, oh and i have developed a questionable leadership approach while having my personal relationship erode away... Other then that...

My friend who did it claim he was blind for about a day after the intervention, than best decision that he made. That one day is enough for me not to take the risk x)
