Since getting this CO2 meter, I’ve found there’s a high correlation with being unfocused and/or irritable with 800+ readings. Reminder to get some fresh air, open the window, etc.
Wow, super cool to see new metrics like that. I don’t have numbers for it but another tip: if you find yourself very productive at a coffee house or library, often it’s the chair and desk they set up. Sometimes if it’s good enough, you can just note down the brand and buy your own. Copy the ergonomics.
After getting an Airthings View Plus, my new enemy is lawnmower noise, since our windows are always open and landscapers trim grass for hours at a time, almost daily
Have this our bedroom and noticed CO2 impact sleep Removing caffeine improved whoop recovery by 5-8%
Love it. Use it where you sleep too! Also, you may be surprised that VOCs (found in colognes and many household products) can have a similar effect on us as CO2. Highly recommend checking out the science on this stuff in common products at ewg.org
Never heard of this. I was a fan of Awair for humidity but they discontinued the device and pivoted to enterprise 😅 How's their app? https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aranet-home/id1392378465?platform=iphone
This is one of my favourite facts, and it’s so overlooked. In the astronaut Scott Kelly’s biography Endurance he writes about how constantly they had to repair the CO2 filter in the ISS and the effects high CO2 had in the crew and himself.
my sensor gets over 1800 sometimes when i’m locked in a room for a long time and screams at me
Combine with an air purifier to offset any harmful pollutants from open windows.
My neighbor is feeding Co2 into his apartment so his weed plants can feed on it. And it's reading 900+ in his room and I told him that it's one of the stupidest things I've seen in a long time
funny, I just got this same little guy a few days ago so far my readings have been oscillating between 600 and 750, I haven't noticed any correlations to anything in particular yet
Really important. Here in Patagonia we are very used to have gas heaters and I remember feeling dizzy when I was kid at my grandparents house.
Maybe a dumb question but would getting a few plants for a room help lower that number materially?
the R/Y/G look like they were added via msft paint and no matter how hard I stare I can't make it look real
Can confirm. Been using this device for a few years. Originally I got it to help me quantify ventilation in the midst of COVID.
So basically my windowless NYC apartment is slowly transforming me into a New Yorker via CO2
The aranet4 is a fantastic little device! I’ve had one for a few years now. Handy for the temperature and humidity also. Astonishing battery life.
Is 443 your reading with windows open? I have windows wide open and have a 512
Airthings plus is 300 eur while this aranet is 242. However the airthings measures pm as well as other pollutants. People here why did you choose one or the other?
it's a little bit pricy. what's the benefits compared to buy directly an air purifier that theoretically should also give you all these measures?
+1, I find I'm okay until 800-1000, then it's very noticeable above that. Below 600 is definitely noticeably ideal. Temperature/humidity also have an effect too (cooler/lower humidity increases CO2 tolerance a bit, at least reduces the "stuffy room" feeling).
i thought i was bugging! https://twitter.com/JoshCStein/status/1549502102866731009?s=20
I looked into supplementing O2 in my office with a home oxygenation system, but most are localized or bed enclosures
https://patrickcollison.com/pollution Pretty sure someone brought up this blog post on moz lol
800 is way way too high. I read 80 in my house and I find even that on the high side!
I looked at this in the morning, and by 11 I had fire dpt over for a CO2 alarm. Definitely getting one of these now.
I saw this post this morning, and now I have one. Same day shipping is great. Turns out my home office is making me dumb.
Got a cheap one off of Amazon, seems to work fine. My ac does not work very well in my office however
interesting , i think i need something like this because when i focus in my work I forget to breathe properly
Crazy I just got one too, after reading an article on hacker news. Crazy to see how this thing spikes when windows are closed. Aranet seems to be the best on the market for co2 readings
Looks like the Aranet is 3x-5x more expensive than other CO2 monitors I see on Amazon that have decent reviews. Is it just the app that makes this one worth the extra investment?
Looks like punk4156 is looking at this area: https://twitter.com/punk4156/status/1683466933541249025?s=46&t=N80rptBytKhSU-csz4Akrg
New aranet4 player here. Saw this spike at 1,274 after a short drive w windows rolled up. Wondering about recirc on/off effects and the +/- tradeoffs of exhaust fumes
Thank you for sharing this. Got one of these as a productivity check for the home office and ended up learning bedroom has poor ventilation (2400+ 😵💫). Made some changes to significantly improve sleep.
I’ve always been a hypochondriac about this (how does the oxygen get into energy efficient, sealed buildings?), so I got one too. It’s even worse than I thought at my place. Time to poorly seal my AC units and leave a window open.
