Something I’ve been learning is that not everything needs to be efficient Like I don’t need to load my laundry and then do the dishes so the laundry is already started I didn’t recognize what a huge cognitive burden it was to operationalize my day to day chores

i like walking to do something in the other part of the house and then coming back for some item i could have taken with me but decided not to. call that single threaded operation.

This is probably the #1 argument between my SO and I - I feel an innate need to optimize absolutely everything, even trivial things. She gets very frustrated since not everything is an optimization problem but I can’t seem to help it :(

efficiency vs. effectiveness it’s efficient to jump out of the window to get to the first floor, not very effective tho this helped me turn chores into things i enjoy — poof no more chores 😊

haha, totally. I spend way too much time obsessing over chores prioritization, dependency trees and critical paths - all involuntarily in my head - so that I save a couple of minutes at best
