Going to go back to the Metamask extension after using Coinbase Wallet one. Browser extension logged me out with an error and refuses to accept my recovery phrase. The same one that the mobile app tells me is valid. Say what you will about Metamask, it gets the basics right.
This. The basics are hard. Other wallets are (necessarily) trying to differentiate on polish and features. MM moves slow and focuses more on not screwing up than on being delightful.
You bring up a valid point - love it, or hate it - MM gets the basics. Snaps will expand offerings greatly too. Why our team is building on top of this infrastructure.
Metamask is the worst ethereum wallet except for all the others that have been tried from time to time
+1. I use them a lot with my day job so I'm stress testing them a lot, and MetaMask is the very clear winner. Less fancy stuff, but stronger basics.

I have had great luck with Rabby as a fallback to Frame as others have mentioned. I honestly don't think MM does the basics right I think it is more of a case that everyone uses Metamask so fixes the issues it has with their sites.

I found that this can occur if site access is set to, "When you click the extension." If set to, "On all sites," your recovery phrase should work correctly.
Sorry for the frustration, but I feel better knowing this happened to someone else too. Same thing happened to me when I tried to use Coinbase, and I defaulted to thinking it must have been user error in some way.
On the browser I prefer to use the built in Brave wallet these days. Works really well and doesn't need an extension at all.
