Thoughts on “try[product-name].COM” vs “[product-name].APP”? Or any other domain opinions
definitely .app a friend has try[product name] and I always forget and put in the omnibar "prod..." but nothing comes up and it's annoying
if u can get the pure form of the name that is always better than any variation of the name in .com form. .com doesn't hit the same as it used to, so not worth comporting to it
did similar with securekit.app and getsecurekit.com (which I won’t renew). One benefit of .app is that it enforces https though one can also enforce by adding to hstspreload.org
I'm not a fan of "try" as a prefix. It's cute the first time, but awkward for a product you use all the time. same for "get" I think suffix is the way to go, with a .com if you can. People really don't get .co, .io, etc. You'll ultimately spend time and money to move to a .com later
surprised to see no .xyz suggestions, which feels to me like _the_ web3 domain
Call me old school but I prefer .com. Its got history. Its timeless. Its the OG. And all the other things people say about old things when they are trying to shill them 😄
try + product name might be a good idea for a twitter handle actually. for a website domain, product name. app/io/com/xyz
try https://smartynames.com/ im my experience with pldb.com getting a top notch dot com is way worth it
I consistently find myself forgetting the URLs for try/get/use{productName} - and it's frustrating every time. .app are awesome because they're naturally easy to recall when you need them (linear.app is a vivid example). I think anything descriptive after {productName} is viable.
