The consistent stream of book recommendation requests on Farcaster make me think a client that's focused on Goodread's type functionality would do well.
@cdixon casted something to the effect of book recommendations being an unsolved market
I know some people who like goodreads but something about it drives me crazy.
why can't book recommendation requests be a subset of a more ambitious idea really enjoy the goodreads activity feed of what everyone else is reading, but sadly don't think books alone is going to target a big enough demo for a venture-scale opportunity hard to make a general solution that is great for niche things
Tough nut to crack given the Kindle<>Goodreads connection Not web3 but if anyone’s looking for an amazing app to discover new books: https://www.tertulia.com/ Have read a bunch sourced from here, all 🔥. No social features atm, although you can connect your Twitter
No algorithm I’ve seen beats human beings curating book (or other content) recommendations for other humans.
we have a working group building a library for kernel.community if any folks want to hack on this together
I discovered a small app trying to build a better Goodreads. It's called Hardcover, but I'm not sure re its reach. Would be SUPER cool to have one on Farcaster.
I agree. I enjoy the curated lists on shepherd. A more live/connected FC style take could work well. https://shepherd.com/
