What's next for Farcaster? A draft proposal for what the protocol should be focussed on, now that hubs are in the final phase of launch. Feedback welcome async or in the dev call tomorrow. https://hackmd.io/@farcasterxyz/SyeXtT4fh
Some initial thoughts: - Clients will eventually all read from Hubs. Otherwise there's no way to get the following tab. - App-driven signups are important (we are looking to onboard more DAOs). This also keeps FC growing at ~5% / week. I don't mind relying on WC tooling - @purple can help us get to 10 hubbles
Looking forward to learning more about network separators. +1 on educating users and developers, video tutorials are awesome and I've been thinking of producing some of my own as I learn more about Farcaster.
On the funding bit - you want to charge creators for making content on Farcaster? That’s definitely a differentiator! :-/
New non-warpcast-like clients with sign-up and write features is the best way to increase the number of people creating useful content on Farcaster. For example, Alphacaster could probably rival warpcast on cast creation if it can facilitate governance discussion.
The 'make money' section focuses only on charging users, though I think there's an opportunity for B2B products / revenue given the developer interest in building / leveraging the tech and Farcastee community. That B2B revenue could also be managed in a 'sufficiently decentralized' manner for upgrades and maintenance.
I like the general prioritization. Some thoughts: 1. Re general prioritization: it's important to stack the problems in importance but also how uniquely the Merkle team is able to solve the problem. I'd rank problems that Merkle is uniquely able to solve higher so for example, thought #2
