Farcaster is a social network, not social media. Have you heard this before? If you grok the nuanced, yet very significant distinction between the 2 then you understand our approach to farcastHER. If you cast into this channel like traditional social media, your content will likely end up hidden.
for me, farcaster is a protocol, a protocol is a medium as mediated by individual datum and other media, and hence a tool-being upon which clusters of networks self-assemble. ...and, i like there are people who think this way in my mediated networks. cheers.
I like how you make it clear to be thoughtful and act good without setting any explicit rules
Got it! ๐ Understood! ๐ Let's embrace the unique approach of farcastHER!
Should we create another channel for women where more traditional social media style posting* is welcome? * inspirational quotes, memes, images, photos of women leading with looks (attractiveness, sex appeal, whatever), a void where no one cares about signal and is content with noise
It seems that this needs to be spelled out several times per month
a lot of girl accounts who post pictures here are fakes and most probably will not read it
A network where a push / tap of a cast action can turn any cast into a song in seconds! So I turned this into one!
Iโm very curious as to what my own goals are on here. Are they more views? Not necessarily. Right now, Iโd love more connections for knowledge. Iโd like to know if that falls into the general idea of what farcaster is worth. I donโt know.
Modding a big channel like this is really hard so far be it from me to tell you and the mods how to do it. I just want to share my perspective. Iโve seen so many rules/guidelines posts here, I feel intimidated to post at all I donโt know the answer but I feel like itโs important to consider
Yes, I've heard of this distinction before. Farcaster being a social network implies a focus on connecting people based on shared interests or activities, rather than just broadcasting content to a wide audience like traditional social media platforms.
I think you've been really patient with this. I'm sorry you're still dealing with it. Your channel norms seem clear.
Prob too harsh, but what if for a few weeks we banned all images (be great if that could be done without the need for moderators, just make it so pics can't be added)? Do I like seeing some & adding, but i could live without. Also - I'd pay a fee if it meant it was more discourse focused again. Pay to enter?
it feels like the channel is against women only naked photos are valued here
one or two of my posts have been flagged as not applying with the channel norms.. but I donโt see many Amazigh Algerian women in spaces like this. I want to share my authentic self this app is a powerful social network yes, but itโs also designed after twitter and Reddit.. it is blurring the lines by design..
