Are you allowed to use your own modem in the US? In my country ISP is a monopoly and you are forced to use their modem which is probably filled with a ton of distopian shit. I can attach a router customize a little but ultimately have to use their modem.

You can use your own modem in the US. At least with every ISP I have used.
