Why cannot I get into the wire? Started it multiple times only to abandon it soon after 1 or 2 episodes.

The only TV Series I watched more than once is Cowboy Bebop. First time when I was 13 yo, the second time when I was in the early 20s and the last time during COVID.
None. I don’t think I even watched one series from start to finish.
Seinfeld Twin Peaks The Wire Chernobyl These are the first shows that come to mind. Early Simpsons is also a comfort.

Community. I think it held a special place in my heart, as I watched it while in college. The Wire, Sopranos easily make this list as well.

Breaking bad 3x (each with different gf’s) Quite honestly the best character development I have ever seen on the screen Would also rewatch Twin Peaks for that reason
