Wait - just realized something how many of yβall have ever physically shined a shoe π
Glad you asked, itβs my time to shine. Iβve been polishing my boots weekly for almost a year.
I always dreamed that I had a shoe polishing machine in my house like in hotels.
Did that everyday for the dress code check in the army.
Brown and black shoe polish > stored under the sink > made a huge mess 30% of the time
My dad used to have his old National Guard shoe shining kit that I would play with and shine our shoes π
Worked as door-to-door and traveling salesman so yes Actually still have this lil memento
I started shining my shoes after reading in a magazine that women judge a man by their shoes Wait - how many of y'all have ever read a paper magazine for dating tips?
Iβm wearing a suit pretty much 3 days a week so dress shoes that need shining are a bigger part of my life than Iβd want them to be
Did it a few times as a kid - I think my dad just wanted me to know how.
Iβve done it a few times, but the shoe shine kid at Nordstrom can make miracles happen.
eight years ago I spent a few hours shining and polishing every leather shoe I owned and recall feeling immensely proud afterwards. I now rarely wear leather shoes π
The nicest and most comfortable shoes I own are sheepskin oxfords that I got at a second hand shop. I take good care of them incl the occasional polish. Cant believe I found them in such perfect condition, they're like 400 new
To this day lol Itβs not needed that often, but I certainly shoe shine up some dress shoes Iβve kept in great condition for close to a decade now.
Stopped wearing dress shoes since idk when, only sneakers after that, even weddings
I used to back when I wore those kinds of shoes, but those days are long gone π
When I was a Civil Air Patrol cadet had to shine the shit out of those old school black boots with BDUs. Still remember sitting there with a lighter, bowl of water, and tin of Kiwi for hours watching TV.
I used to all the time when I was in elementary and middle school. I also used to help shine my dad's shoes. From highschool onward I mostly wear sneakers and canvas shoes so no more shining
All through grade school. Required part of school uniform. You could get demerits for being too crappy.
Back when I wore dress shoes more frequently, I would shine them every few months. Only took a few minutes and did make them look a lot better.
I used to sell suits, and often showed customers how to shine their shoes. But these days..i shine/oil my boots ab once every 2 months as Iβm an electrician atm.
Did it every other day for 12 years, school uniform. The rule at home was to make sure they were so shiny a chicken would want to peck your shoes thinking its water π what a time!
I still do when I need to actually. Probably for the same reason I do everything else myself - I want it done exactly how I'd like.
