plant people of FC: best recommendations for (low light) house plants? cc’ing non-crypto interest answers @pierre @criptera @molly @cyrus @jawa @necopinus
We have a Ficus Audrey that looks nice. Don't get a lot of sun where we live and it looks great.
I have ZZ plants everywhere, they're basically impossible to kill. I also have a monstera that does well in medium light.
I have a ficus kentia and it’s working fine in low light. Orchids should work too.
ZZ is great for low light and also pothos thrive in low light! Bamboo tree also do well! Managed to maintain 30 plants in my apartment for two years so have some confidence in my recommendation!
@ted 👋 All the offers here are great! + FC Pro Tip; Rotate the plant every few days so that it can be fully exposed. 🪴
Hiiiiii, nice to meet you and thank you for asking me to participate 🥹 I recommend you get a Pothos, Snake Plant, Alocasias & ZZ’s are basically indestructible indoors… I’m still testing how strong common Ivy’s are compared to these and they’re also passing the test considering they are nomadic plants livi
Echoing others - really snake plants and pothos / philodendron types are best bet. I've had good results with rubber trees in indirect lowish light too...So depends how low.
Great recommendations in this thread! If you can keep them in a high humidity environment (e.g., regular misting, a terrarium-like enclosure, living in a humid climate), anything in the Selaginella genus is well-adapted to low light.
Depends on how low, but the ones we have that tolerate less light are parlor palm and Swedish ivy. We used to have pothos but we kind of looked like crazy plant people so we trimmed down.
I've had good luck with ZZ plants, monsteras, and peace lilies in low light. As others have pointed out, you basically can't kill ZZ plants.
Snake plants are hard to kill. Just don’t overwater. Pothos and monstera are the most fun/striking while still being easy. And succulents here and there as well.
