Depends. What am I trying to write? Technical docs? Corp blog? Creative writing? A novel? Newsletter?

Talk with people. Listen to things outside of your space. Listening to thinkers in adjacent spaces unlocks new thought pathways

I stop trying so hard and fixating on unblocking it. Taking up a different task using a different part of my brain helps. Eventually I’ll be inspired by something that’ll naturally bring the creative juices back. Sometimes, I find talking with a friend (not about the block) helps me relax and refresh

I start writing down any and all thoughts in my head even if irrelevant to what I want to write about for several pages. Usually helps unblock me

Write tipsy, edit sober. In all seriousness, a dash of spirits might disinhibit the right brain centers and dislodge the jam. But return with a steely eye and tidy it up tomorrow. A mild hangover helps here. Sincerely, Hemingway.

Meditation, of some kind, and focusing on something else for a while, then meditation. Love some of the other reqs here to. I find block or indecision is usually a result of too much currently occupied mental space or try to force things that don't fit instead of observing and finding a flow.

Don’t think about writing. Get bored. That’s the best way I know to unlock thoughts.
