I have ideas on next steps after the Network State conference. But I’m interested in yours. What’s next?
Create an onchain membership ID for all attendees, then build a simple analytics page to show the social graph and growth of the network. All future attendees of official network state events are added to the ID whitelist.
@nomi @maxp.eth @nomi & I are building a platform where smart contracts become mass social objects (nilli.com). This can become one rails for "Parallel Legal." This Fall we're targeting both Gray (Manifesto ⬇️ ) and Red (College Sports).
Optimize for actions Build a simple knowledge base to coordinate people and keep creating the impulses for more actions: key concepts explained, links to aligned companies/projects, suggested list of actions, how to reach out and what help people can get
We need a forum discussing problems, not ideas, and a few dedicated builders, investors & contributors implementing an idea. This way, it stays selective, but engagement is bottom-up. This way, you demonstrate new governance models at the local level. Show working examples of what a network state could look like.
Branching out the TNS community. Accelerating the overall flywheel… Intelligent change, by any memes.
I love the YC for TNS idea I’ve been building the foundations of a value based ecosystem, amazing people, clear vision and organic growth It would be amazing to also have a support system to help structure and scale 🙏
We could create a live Network State reading list on @kiwi, just like we did with Farcaster (linkrel) We'd just need someone to curate it. https://news.kiwistand.com/canons?name=farcaster
Getting wins is what matters. Not necessarily major ones, but minor ones across the world to build the momentum. Going to be talking to @tldr about Gray tomorrow.
What was the result of the survey? I would be super curious. Also, it becomes a clear marketing guide 😁😁
determining whether there's synergy possible between the burning man diaspora of land projects and e/acc + TNS ecosystems or whether one must pick one or the other
I want to build a product that helps an anon survive the world. Anonymity is crucial to protect ourselves. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Nameless Galaxy.
the next step is for you, balaji, to be the change you wish to see in the world. maximize skin in the game, practice what you preach, lead by example: start your own network state. show us how its done. i’d be among the first to sign up
Bounties for experiment designs Then fund the best designs Iterate Also a goal, what is the next measurable outcome we want to achieve?
It seems to found a Network State you need three things: 1. values 2. governance 3. proximity Which of these, if not figured out, poses the highest risk of Network States being considered a failure?
Would love regular updates from all the parallel societies and institutions you featured. Maybe a dedicated podcast series and/or a bullet point section of your newsletter. I want to be pitched on a regular basis why I should move to a particular startup city/country and how it compares to other places.
A centralized place where aspiring builders can grab network state tools/platforms/code à la carte.
Break the red barrier. Given that real estate and politics are often so closely linked...a high leverage way to do this would be for tech progressives to start occupying government positions.
funding geographically distributed local nodes, meetups, events... through Quadratic Funding
Grey DAO, a nounish DAO to fund R&D and build momentum. Similar to Purple DAO.
Raise capital & work on the deal 1) Pick contested land, pay both sides Samuel Zimmery style. (eg Cyprus, Western Sahara ...) 2) Make a deal with very undeveloped country that wants to be developed. List of countries with lowest population density great starting point. (eg Namibia ...) https://shorturl.at/bmAY9
Defining list of 10 things we stand for and 10 things we absolutely stand against. That's why I keep begging to release the results of the exit poll. I get a sense there is less alignment than there needs to be.
Something like DarkFi for encrypted DAOs, encrypted communications, encrypted task list and encrypted code repos.
I think your decision to step away from building a NS was the right move. You'll be able to help much more by leveraging your current position to foster the ecosystem as a whole with distribution, capital, and mentoring. For next, a few ideas: - hackathons with grants - recurring group classes for ss founders 👇🏽
data is cheaper than land. I wonder if TNS works in any intermediate fashion w/o discrete sovereignty, especially as a global orchestration of commercial entities. there should be a growing database of locations/craft on a spectrum from desolation to overregulation, & how much they're saturated w/ network unions.
Some kind of logo we can put on our company websites
Move 1000+ people to Forest city and get started with private crypto payments and voting.
My personal next step is to organize a rationality meetup in Vienna and give them a primer on network states
Little late to this thread but here are my thoughts https://youtu.be/WtsKXBOvzoM?si=aTDx0KoX9TtRRIhX People are really looking for a clear direction to work in.
Put out a bounty for curating a list of existing communities which one might want to learn more about Network States. I have been personally following Project Kamp, They are prototyping a more sustainable way of living. Check them out (https://projectkamp.com/) We need a list of Startup societies who might not know NS.
Have some community managers (like me 🫡), add agora’s for un-conference components, use matching with conference apps, speaker q&a couch areas, a pre-/post meetup, and apply some of the tools presented (cabin, coordinape, etc)
