Instead of book club, can we do podcast club? Who has listened, has thoughts, and wants to discuss? https://spotify.link/tZFwME41VCb
1. I’m 💯 listening to it this weekend 2. This is such a cool feature I’d love to build natively in Pincaster
I will listen in chunks over a week. Listened to the first 20 minutes and digging it so far. Visualizing the social graph, quantifying the “digital” proximity between people vs physical proximity, and the appreciation for how big a technological advance cartography was. Always enjoy hearing Balaji talk
Listened to another chunk this morning- some notes: - Understanding US thru the lens of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. Partition more a likely outcome than civil war. @tayyab you might have perspective here - Exclave - new vocab word 😉
So many thoughts! First one I already casted about was @lesgreys.eth 's purple jacket - absolutely visionary if you're months ahead of Balaji. Also it was interesting to hear him describe what I've been feeling in the grey tribe, particularly with my hesitation to purchase residential real estate.
- cognitive vs. physical distance is a cool framework. - the sine wave of history, US today vs. India / China of the 1950s - @erik “most of your friends are Jewish” @balajis.eth “most of my successful investments are!”
loved the pod overall, it triggered me so much I wrote a long post (6-7mins read) Feedback/discussion welcome! artlu.xyz/balajis-on-moz-e40/
finally got to the grey tribe part (I’m at 1:45:00) and it’s breaking my heart a bit. Really struggling emotionally that his answer to tribalism is another tribe. I align to grey values, can never get enough of listening to the polymath, but I’m so anti tribal it’s hard to get behind his suggestions
Finally got thru the episode only to find there’s a part 2 that’s 4.5 hours long?! 😩
