solana is interesting—looking for cheaper options to build unlonely on - optimism polygon and base as well but I never gave solana a chance bc I was swept into the eth maxi mindset last year. a lotta of the things I cared about which made me dislike solana don’t really matter as much now I’m realizing thoughts?

eth network effects are very strong. I'm impressed by the resolve and execution of the solana team, and anatoly is a great leader
Are your users on sol? If no, which is easier to onboard and onramp your users onto?
Personally I'd optimize for user onramps, just thinking about users and distribution. There are way more wallets that will have a base integration in the next 6mo and Coinbase is going to point most of their users there. I think that's what most of the big consumer apps are doing
Polygon seems like a good compromise between solana and eth l2
i use solana, though has been very frustrating last year due to the software glitches but i am quite certain is just a matter of time before they fix it. some of the problem has been fixed or still in the middle. Toly seems to be a genuine founder, that's important for me.

I like Solana for technical use cases that don't benefit from the "rich person filter" that ETHs gas costs provide
do you think creator tokens should trade against a crypto asset or usdc? if usdc, some interesting stuff becomes possible
I noticed Optimism's revenue and usage chart significantly go up and to the right in the last 2-3 months Polygon's numbers feel like mostly they are driven by enterprise partnerships as versus optimism/arbitrum's are driven by devs and smaller projects
Always liked solana. Bought before the mega bull run at like 50$ sol. The coin(s) is pretty bad, but the tech is great which seems pretty difficult for people to grok
Personally, I am really impressed with near and aurora. Very under rated
So good to have you throw this out. IMO more eth-builders need to have this conversation. Even if you still end up on a Layer 2, but the silos of the Layer 1's seems suboptimal for mainstream adoption. Mainstream users will come for the product benefit, that's it.
I like Solana for its monolithic architecture - speed, low fees, easy composability. If you want to do a lot of on-chain stuff I think it’s a good choice. There have been bugs but I think that they’ll be worked out over time
I haven't gotten into it purely from a time crunch issue, but I love Tezos.

I dunno I think Sol is owned by a bunch of VC’s there. I also think they need to decentralize more. Totally understand growing pains of growth in a project but shutting down the network, like they do, is not a good thing.
Explore eth L2’s first, I’d suggest. Better network effects.
other than vc dumping coins, I never get why ppl hate the chain so much. Very fast as far as ux is concerned.phantom and backpack are much better wallets, and lots of good builders in the eco
Good luck running a node. Decentralized goes out the window when even nerdy folks can't run a node on reasonable hardware.
Lots of good tech in the Solana ecosystem BUT also over engineered, making some basic things unnecessarily hard to build.

Love to see this 🙏🏽 wish more folks from the ETH community took the time to deep dive into Solana’s tech w/o using ETH as the baseline mental model. So many hidden gems! I’ve found that understanding Solana’s vision as “decentralized access to low latency” helps paint the picture for people 🎯
Solana knocks every other chain out of the water on metrics that matter: Through-put (scale now) Measurable decentralisation User activity The critics are still clouded with ETH-maxi nonsense and their arguments are outdated. Wisdom of the crowd is sometimes not much diff from foolishness of thr crowd
I really enjoy Solana tbh. Good potential but I think Arbitrum is eating it's lunch.
