gm What's your favorite notes app? š I started with Apple's Notes app and then migrated to three other apps over the past years but ended up coming back to the Notes app.
I like to type everything using markdown editors. Much easier to version and put into a good layout whatever the platform.
After trying a bunch of them I have settled on bear notes! Simple yet versatile. I like their new version Panda š¼ that anyone can download and use for free.
Simplenote. Does what it says on the tin. Main benefit over apple notes is that it works on all platforms.
I have been using Roam Research for a while and love it. My apparent IQ doubles on calls when I have it open, vs real lifeā¦
Same. Iāve gone from Notes to Notion to Day One to Craft to Bear. And now Iām back to Notes. Nothing beats native integration and accessibility.
On mobile Iāve become fairly app agnostic. Desktop 90% Roam rest audience dependent. I try to put all my notes in front of general audiences as early as possible (good ones), to drop thoughts Vs chunk.
bear for personal notes / tasks diary. notion and slite for projects / work.
Raw file formats, either .txt or .md Bonus points for hooking them up to version control so that you have a change log and diffs
Iām making Obsidian.md for this Apple Notes sets a very high bar on mobile, but the latest beta version of Obsidian is finally good enough for me to use it everywhere. I can finally get the lightness and quick capture of Apple Notes with the depth of Obsidian.
Roam Research is absolutely the best notes app you can use. Especially the way the tagging system and links between notes works. But itās really not great for mobile. If I need to record something quick, I use Evernote on my phone.
went from simplenote > notion > apple notes. like the simplicity, to-do list, integration with photos and quickly using markup tool with ipad/pencil is nifty.
I use & love Bear. Markdown notes and very simple. It doesnāt support bridging multiple devices without using the same Apple ID, so I also use Obsidian without the graph features.
Used to use notation velocity and simple note syncing to Dropbox. Now I mostly use Google Docs but looking to get back to plain text note taking.
Apple Notes all the way. Though a friend put together an amazing perspective on developing your own system regardless of the software (his preference is Obsidian): https://speakerdeck.com/adewale/tools-for-thought-from-the-memex-to-index-cards
I use Apple notes as a slip box then synthesize/reflect with obsidian. I like knowing that I have all the .md files locally
As much as I try to leave it, I just canāt quit Evernote⦠Iāve tried many other notes apps - latest one being drafts - and I always find Evernote to be the quickest fastest for quick capture and now - for personal knowledge management
obsidian.md simple, reasonably quick, and markdown. missing: - a better vim mode - open source
Apple notes #1, Notion if I need to share / work collaboratively, Fathom for zoom calls, and the Moleskin app if Iāve got my iPad and want to use a pencil.
