Do you have your phone set to Silent Mode: 1. 100% of the time 2. Most of the time 3. Abut 50-50 4. 0% (you turn it off when you want it silent)
Almost none of my apps have notifications enabled so I don’t need silent mode. It cringes me how many notifications some apps send when I forget to disable
4. Calls are the only notifications I get. I turn on the setting to “silence unknown numbers” so I don’t get spam calls
I almost never have my phone on silent but after seeing all of these comments, and noticing how distracted I get sometimes, might switch to 1 and just turn silence everything.
3. I have a kid and generally want to be alerted if she’s on fire or has set something on fire.
1 - 100% silent Unless I have some specific incoming call or want to make sure I catch something timely.
1 and no vibrate! but I’m always on my phone (sad) so it doesn’t end up mattering anyway
Notifications turned off for most things and silent mode, only have notifs on for things that people send me. No automated notifications. Only way to preserve my sanity
2. most of the time, except when i’m waiting for a call or text back about something especially time-sensitive
Not sure which category it falls in but every sound notification is off 100% of time except calls.
1. All of the time. Unless I’m meeting up with family/friends and will need to respond asap
1 — I treat my phone like it’s a pager. Rarely answer calls unless I’m on my phone already, always call back.
1 Although I have my ringtone set to Whitney Houston for when I inevitably fuck it up and have ringer on
1 and realizing that not having your phone on silent is almost weird for Gen Zers
Since COVID: (1) Also I’ve found turning off most notifications (except phone, DMs, FC) and batching any other important ones with scheduled notifications to be super helpful in improving notif signal:noise
Guess we’re not getting cool Farcaster sounds lol Makes sense tho, I spent the time making all my sounds different sounds from Stardew Valley but I rarely hear them since I’m always on vibrate
