posted this on X & Lens yesterday & it got a lot of pickup 🤔 curious the FC community take: 🎯 Lens Open Actions are a gamechanger social goes from being an app to being an open fabric you'll be able to integrate social graph + onchain tx into anything; any post can have a smart contract action/tx

for those not following along at home, you can embed any smart contract and onchain action into a social post/feed (like the Zora mints on Warpcast) so, for example, you can read about a fundraise for charity + click right there to contribute + have it echo'd to your followers -- all at once, anywhere

1 year later and I still haven't got Lens access. Any way to get in?

i think the warpcast Mint buttons are a great first example of Actions, but Open Actions take it step farther and enable any dev to add on-chain Actions that are also connected to the social graph would be great to see Farcaster equivalent ... because it just makes a lot of sense imo

the combination of Open Actions + Social Anywhere is most powerful user could login with ethereum wallet in any app (doesn't need to be a "social app"), take an onchain action, and have user's action echoed to their social graph across ethereum this is where web3 social will be won imo, not on apps, but on ethereum

DAOs go from being this fixed construct to a loose swarm. Don’t just bring the people to Ethereum… bring Ethereum to the people.

I completely agree, but the UX isn't up to par at the moment and it might take years to reach that level. Whenever I use a Lens client, I find it buggy and lose patience. However, I do respect their efforts, the Lens v2 design is exceptionally impressive For more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrn-6WDOFMc

Initial reaction: that’s ridiculously dope. It seems like they’re thinking about on-chain social as a first class citizen.

I think it's super cool, but also think it wont be an actual gamechanger until it's launched in the context of a robust and genuinely active user base (ie, not airdrop farmers) In other words, I believe the powerful features of crypto social will be downstream of somehow winning the social part first

Lens open actions is a play akin to Facebook wanting to be The Internet for most people. Really smart product move, I'm excited to see where it progresses.

Do you know Mirror already supports contract interaction early in 2021? They even publish a websiter where you simply input a contract and interact with it. Sadly they don't go far with it. It indeed sounds interesting but consider the samll niche of Web3 users there is still a long way to go.
