Outside of crypto or AI, what emerging technologies are you most excited about? Why?

For me it’s 3D computer vision and interfaces. We’ve basically been interfacing with computers mostly the same way for 40+ years. I want to see what emerges once we move into a 3D space with AR.

AR is both the thing I’m most excited about and feels the most obvious to me. We are already connected to both the digital and physical worlds simultaneously and there is no way staring at tiny rectangles is the end state. It also is probably much further away then both crypto and AI.

Has to be robotics, specifically in the area of remote surgical procedures. That along with AR/VR medical training. Being able to transport ORs by air or road for specialists to log in remotely and perform critical procedures isn't too far off and will go a long way to levelling accessibility of healthcare.

Gotta be agritech. We’re on the cusp of being able to free a vast proportion of modern land use for forest/ biodiversity while feeding people with healthier, more consistent food. This encompasses everything from IOT/ farm automation to genetic engineering.

most excited for the synthesis here how will ai engage with distributed ledgers? what’s a world with near zero cost intelligence & energy look like? how will ar inform irl design? what will humans get up to with robotics supplanting physical work and autonomous agents shouldering knowledge work?

Nuclear and improved methods of copper mining Wild to me how little most folks in tech are paying attention to energy Hypothesis is that most software people don’t want to work with atoms

Can’t wait for AR at scale. Imagining the second order effects in less obvious places like remote job marketplaces where interfaces look easy and enjoyable to use (reminds me of the vision @balajis laid out for the future of remote work)
