Hundreds of airdrops guides suggest people to own a lens profile to qualify for the “life change” drop. Since there are some criteria to sing up, you cannot simply mint lens profile, so people are forced to buy it on the second hand market 💁♂️
Lens is gated. You can enter ones you have the NFT. Potentially airdrop hunters looking for gold.
similar to ENS, one could speculate that there may be an imminent $LENS token that rewards profiles based on certain actions performed. for ENS, the more domains you owned the better off you were

I get a ton of these too. I'm guessing it's a sybil thing. They're not easy to get at scale, lots of things gatekeep on owning one.
This is part of why I like Farcaster better than LensProtocol. From little I use and therefore know (so could be wrong) about the later, it seems excessively optimized for transactional relationships rather than non-transactional(which is more valuable for a given social network to optimize for).
