I've appreciated gundb for sometime and have been curious about nostr but I just logged into iris and it felt like I was browsing some coding bootcamp mid-term project or demo app by a high school student. what am I missing? why are people so hyped about nostr? or am i looking at incorrect client?

nostr is simple and it has potential to work. could enjoy similar dev flywheel becauses its extreme open nature

people like the ethos, simplicity, bitcoin-adjacent vibe I'd be surprised if it has any meaningful retained DAU in 3-6 months (hard to measure since it's so simple you can easily spin up fake accounts to juice numbers)

There's some consternation over Iris that they are trying to hide any mention of gundb: https://twitter.com/marknadal/status/1621256013310578690 That being said Nostr is just reinventing the wheel that Waku/gundb have been thinking about for longer than they have. Relaying messages is the easy part...anti-spam is hard.
