I don’t live in either place, but for tech, seems like SF is back and Miami was a COVID mirage. NY benefitted the most from young people moving there, but TBD on results. LA on a smaller scale. Who’s Austin?
I don't think Austin made it either. It was hyped during summer 2021, but property taxes there are crazy and startup scene down there is not worth it.
Just visited Austin and learned that a lot of COVID migrants left after the first intensely hot summer. Driving there was a nightmare too, Austin doesn’t have the infrastructure to handle a huge influx of people.
New York always has a steady stream of young people moving here because of how many entry level jobs are here across nearly every industry. During COVID a lot of Bay Area types came here for a summer or a year. Thankfully most left.
Bozeman MT is pretty impressive…but most work for a company based out of SV
What data is leading you to believe that? Just curious. I'm in Nashville, which definitely got a boost from COVID, but has just been on a more general tech growth trajectory, and none of the community I've met has moved away or is planning to do so.
I’ve met a lot of folks building in Austin. I heard it also benefited from COVID - people escaping the cities in lockdown. UK/EU is feeling like it’s getting more and more startup friendly - especially Lisbon and Amsterdam
