what's your go-to listening speed? i will die on the 1.0x hill, i can't get over the uncanniness of anything beyond
Depending on the person. For most content I'm okay with 1.5-1.7X but never did more than 1.2X for balaji
1.5-1.75x For some audiobooks, I can retain enough at 2x. MoZ I can just get by at 1.25x
2x. Sometimes I feel a twinge of guilt... but I move through that quickly when I see the stats. The only exception is mindfulness podcasts.
1-1.5x depending on the speed of the speaker. I don't trust people who listen at 2x (they are probably aliens).
100x. If it doesn’t sound like this you’re not even trying. https://youtu.be/ukZYP5Dy43E
If they don't sound like a 56k modem, it's not fast enough. I'm main lining information, not ape gibbering.
wen 4x? jk jk rule of thumb is 1x speed for entertainment, 2x for education but sometimes gotta reduce if the speaker is a fast talker, eg pmarca
Wait, we’re all in that big of a hurry in *normal* mode? 1x, or I don’t need it in my life. Always looking for a chance to chiiilllll, slow dooowwwnn.
1.1x The thing I can't stand on 1.5x is how laughing sounds. Makes everyone sound like a cartoon character.
I’m listening to an audiobook where the viewpoint switches between two characters and I go between 1.5/1.6x and 1.25x every chapter 😪
2-2.5 depending on how slow people talk I had to listen to an audio tour at 1x speed last week and it made me realize how much I’ve messed up my auditory listening abilities in traditional settings
YouTube 2x (except for some UK accents) Audiobooks 1.6x (usually) Podcasts 1.25x to 1.5x Foreign language audiobooks 0.9x
2x is ideal. 2.5 for crystal clear audio and accents I'm familiar with. Minimum 1.5 or what are we even talking about.
0.8 for @pmarca to bring his throughput down to human level. 1.0 for most podcast 1.25 and higher as information density decreases
1.25 for podcasts 1.25-1.5 for YouTube Also the reason why I hate Twitter spaces - cannot speed up the convo. Gimme a focused podcast on 1.25 anytime over a Twitter spaces 😭
