Compared to the recent AI demos, I’ve never been wow’d at web3 product demos mixing in the jargons to illustrate the imagined success case of something doesn’t seem to ignite much with avg consumers (except for $ upside) as well as demos that instantly blow their mind.

this is true. but also realize that the current AI demos are as good as it gets inspiration-wise for web3 a somewhat less exciting but still exciting demo is sending money across the world w a few lines of code reminds me of when Jeff Lawson (twilio founder) pitched USV and showed making a phone app w 5 api verbs

Agreed! I was also thinking about how AI apps/functionalities have raised the bar for everyone in the industry. Users everywhere will soon start expecting nothing less than impressive image/audio/text/video/apps being created by the push of a button and minimal user input.

Great convo so far. One of the reasons could be the benefits of decentralization are hard to appreciate on a demo bc they aren’t immediate or visible. Resilience, censorship-proof, security, composability, immutability. Demos are great for highlighting usability. Usability isn’t the problem web3 is solving for.

The ability to realize ideas into visuals is a highly valuable skill and has been sought after for as long as humans have been communicating with one another. AI is making that accessible to anyone who wants it. I think the question is: what significant problem is web3 solving for the average person?

if a major player like Apple greatly simplifies the UX and launches built-in wallet, we could see more creative application a new user with a pre-connected bank account is a huge asset to many company

I think people are not ambitious enough with the problems they’re attacking with web3. Blockchain is supposed to disrupt how humans coordinate. There’s also a sense that they’re avoiding solving the really hard problems related to coordinating people. At least the first iterations were. Moving forward it’ll
