How much does FC tip when eating out? I am a measly tipper unless there is a reason to - like over and beyond service. My wife isn’t necessarily a fan of me doing that. Can someone convince me otherwise?

As a former bartender/server, I’m an over tipper. I rarely tip under 20% and if service is good I go up from there. Service staff (in US at least) make less than minimum wage with the understanding that tips will make up that difference so I only hold back in instances of extremely poor service.

Stateside 20% unless it’s a night of stupid wine buying. In that case aim for 20% food and 10% wine.

I tip only when I like the service. Which is often. Rarely more than 15%. Often 10%. Waiters in Europe earn proper salaries. Service fee is often included in the bill. I do not appreciate the way it is handled in US.
