On scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being not an issue and 10 being a hair-on-fire issue: How big of an issue is spam on Farcaster today?
2 bc of the occasional spam bursts, but not a general reoccurring issue
It used to be a nonexistent issue for me but I feel like as of 30 days ago im sitting at a 6-7 on the scale.
3, but only because i follow @ncbot. a lot of the folks joining the network bust out the hottest new rug or ponzi before even sharing a “gm”
2. And to be fair, it’s hard to tell if some of them are spam or just overzealous casters lol
3 I had to take some measures: - stop following back by default - unfollow @ncbot welcome channel is a good replacement - mute obvious spam accounts after they react or reply to my casts Right now is a cat and mouse game
Farcaster is a benchmark for organic community building in web3. Quite impressive.
Farcaster has set a benchmark for organic community building in web3. Nothing is perfect but yes filtering bots at initial onboarding phase has worked extremely well. Impressive.
Bout a 4/5 But...just a few tweets from speculative airdrop influencers can bump that # up overnight
2, but for devs building a Farcaster client & on alt clients it's higher
2 today. But could quickly become a 7/8 without the right tooling in place (we've experienced this).
4 - but mostly because they are drowning out new users and a lot to new folks are really really cool Some noise in notifications too but not a big deal
1 will there ever be an option to silence non-ENS-linked accounts? maybe at the same time as allowing cb(dot)id subdomain ENS? or maybe in a credibly neutral way also allowing other on-chain ID solutions like Galxe, Gitcoin Passport, beb
6 notifications are flooded by bots sometimes. Can the activity badge be shown in notifications tab? I feel like someone that isn‘t actively muting users, for them it might become a 8-9
2, have noticed just the tiniest amount lately. Was at 0 for a long time.
2 - I don’t see aggressive or harmful spam, and it’s still easy to ignore and scroll quickly past when it pops up
2 - very rarely unfollow certain users/bots; channels are higher signal and I've been shifting to using them more anyway
1, sometimes i'll get the "good" reply from a spammy account but it really doesn't bother me
It depends, can my activity in memes chanel can be considered as a spam?
relative to other platforms, very very low. but it increased in the past few weeks 2
1 really I did get a few new dubious followers but I don't follow back by default so no issue there
