the launch of threads makes me 10x more motivated to help decentralized protocols like @farcaster succeed. centralized players have a head start on scale, but we can accelerate past them with the composability, creativity, and collaboration that decentralization uniquely enables. up to us.

This 100%. The introduction of another behemoth centralized social media platform just makes me want to double down on the solutions like @farcaster

I hope @farcaster would turn into something similar to the @optimism OP stack. Teams building new clients according to their needs leading to wider adoption.

Well the sign up process for Farcaster I had to save seed while I was outside. It is nightmare for many. Do it like exodus wallet save seed later. I guess overtime eoa should be done.

💯 percent but as a creator, monetisation of every opportunity to achieve network state is the goal

Unfortunately centralised players usually have more resources and in the long run attract “normal” people. That’s the key.

But it comes down to where people want to spend their time no? Central players have a big social game So what type of games do we need here?

how does one solve for the problem of the dilemma of having to start over on new socials when we are already inundated with social products? I also wonder if the bigger problem is how to connect people in IRL in more meaningful ways. And how do I activate my existing network in a way that doesn't feel transactional.

I was excited about Threads until I saw it's just another Zuckerberg income stream/data mine. Nope. But yes, I'm encouraged. Envisioning a day without Zuck or Musk.

Farcaster needs more users now. I think it has enough web3 bells and whistles to start expanding its user base, no?

Everyone is caught up in the hype of a quasi new platform that, for most, started you off with a couple thousand or less followers from IG However in regards to existing influencers and other influential people on IG who had used Twitter for their text content fix before… Zuck just rugged Elon 😭

agreed, baffling to see so many crypto folks so willing try Threads - knowing full well the context behind data capture. I do think the best thing @farcaster could do is show people HOW to take their social graph with them (if they so choose). That's something meta/twitter would never do (thus an opportunity)

Spot on, Jesse. Centralized players lack the creativity to take risks, which is why Threads is such a carbon copy of the bird app. Andy Allan had a good take on it when said: "The tools shape the behaviours which shape the community" In this regard, FC is already in the lead

same here, have set farcaster to "keep in dock" + downloaded to mobile. Will know it's working if I have to set a daily app limit

I'd love to see decentralised social networks gain the network effects that centralised networks have already achieved – but what's the 10x improvement that will cause people to migrate?
