What are your favorite small(ish) towns? Say ~10K-200K pop in any country, places that punch well above their weight A couple of mine: San Sebastián, Spain Tofino, British Columbia Where else?
Victoria, BC Such a cool place — I bring up moving there to my wife every few months.
Tofino is incredible, would also add Santa Teresa, Costa Rica Braga, Portugal
two excellent picks. san sebastián is incredible (food and otherwise) + Tofino is just sweet all-around. i’d maybe add asheville
Calistoga & Glen Ellen, CA San Gimignano, Italy Beaufort, NC Charleston, SC Maranello/Modena, Italy Townsend, TN
Odense Denmark Most beautiful girls. But, I’m married so too late for them.
Ashland, Oregon. Spent a night there when I road tripped down the west coast, wish I could have stayed longer. Close drive to Crater Lake, a beautiful park in town. Great restaurants, grocery stores, bars. Would like to go back one day.
Auburn, AL Starkville, MS They have a big university & absolutely nothing else. Cheap good food, big parking spaces, lots of grass.
South Pasadena, CA and Bend, OR. Grew up in South PASADENA and it’s basically the set of every movie in Hollywood. Great schools. Great people. Bend was incredibly fun! Loved there during Covid so have an incomplete review of it.
lynden, wa. ashland, or. leavenworth, wa. squamish, bc. ouray, co. taos, nm. bozeman, mt.
another incredible place is Pai, Thailand. About an hour north of Chiang Mai in the mountains. Little village full of hippies and beautiful scenery.
Salida, CO, or Zermatt, Switzerland. Both hover around ~5.8k population (ik a little under but theyre both amazing) only been to salida twice, and zermatt once but I'd move to either in a heartbeat
Eastsound, WA, the only town on Orcas Island, the most beautiful of the San Juans, an archipelago northwest of Seattle.
