I'm down for defaulting to treating AI like it's conscious. Historically, we've made way more mistakes by defaulting to dehumanization.

No. It is "self aware", but lacks the ability to make "conscious" decisions. It still lives within its own programming. Now once these AI are allowed roam and write their own programming based on internal/external factors, THEN we can start really debating this topic.
