There’s been more conflict on Farcaster this weekend than any in my recent memory (except maybe the invite floodgate??) 👀😩🤷♂️ Do you think it’s due to an increase in psychological safety, niceness fatigue, we’ve reached enough scale to support legitimate factions, or something else?
I didn't notice unusual conflict (outside of the 🟣 Prop 37 thread). I don't imagine long-term factors like psych safety erosion are suddenly at play. But maybe now that people are more settled here, they can afford to be a little more direct / less cautious about making good first impressions?
Examples: -@getpurple back and forth -@kazi assertions -Nouns fork discussions (this seemed mostly towards folks outside of FC) -@farcasteradmin.eth choosing violence 😂 - and all the offshoots and replycasts and sub casts from these that aren’t immediately obvious unless you’re reading deep in the reply trees
Also for anyone thinking I’m sounding an doomsday alarm 😂 “More Conflict” doesn’t equal “War-torn Hellscape” At least for me anyway 🫡
GM cameron ☀️ how you doin? I didn’t notice a significant uptick in conflict platform wide. First thought: Psysch safety is necessary ingredient for constructive conflict, but doesn’t lead to conflict. In my experience I see conflict coming from misaligned goals, values, and insecurity.
Don’t even know if i saw the cast but @farcasteradmin.eth choosing violence just feels on brand. I got caught in one of his traps in my early days here. I’ve forgiven him for my flash of embarrassment but haven’t forgotten 🤨😘
And I have all sorts of comments on the @kazi thread but decided more oxygen is not what that emotionally charged arena needed. If you read between the lines, everyone has valid POVs in that entire thread. And I said I didn’t want to comment but I hear I go 🤐🤦🏻♀️🙊
This is wild…I just checked in on Warpcast because things have been too hostile and negative on CT 😂
I think it’s the new users tbh, we had a nice upspoken rule of respect and it feels like farcaster became twitter overnight to me. Genuinely feels like it’s been about a week or two of this.
I didn't notice any sign of conflict or was aware of the conversations below, which confirms my following choices, honestly.
i agree and that kazi post made me really wish i could filter out highly controversial posts or at least posts with a lot of comments that ratio the OP
is the kazi stuff conflict? seems less so to me. i hope we can have discussions
Was gone on a non-themed Unconference with ppl from the remote work field & checked out. Men got invited but didn’t show up, bcoz it was too unstructured. About your post: if it’s constructive conflict it’s good. You want that. Especially in DAOs.
Ya'll turning this place into xsky https://warpcast.com/iammatthias/0x09a37c
i don't have a faction yet but if i had to choose i'd probably join team @dawufi
I think it's been pretty healthy but maybe I've not seen the true vitriol
Let’s not forget the most egregious incident of all, @christopher outbidding me on a purple nft 😠
What if the true conflict is actually the attempt to make stories of nothing, dividing us and making us feel like there are conflicting factions now 🤔
It’s for sure that as this platform grows, people will feel as though they can get away with saying increasingly aggressive and/or ridiculous things. I think it just comes with the territory on socials of scale.
these are normal human social dynamics that this place has managed to escape for this long, happened on clubhouse too invite systems prolong the feelings of utopia but can't prevent the walls falling entirely
Kazi thread backfired imo. Faith was restored reading the replies. Good for the culture!
I completely missed all of it and am so out of the loop ngl 🤷♂️ *insert meme* what happened here 👀
I don’t think the conflict has been so much. For one, I‘ll take the sparring over pushes for “keeping it positive” Toxic positivity is the worst. But I do think there’s a lot of preaching to the choir in here and I see casts that make me fairly certain we haven’t seen anything yet 🤣 popcorn dot gif
