my gut feeling is around 10-25% for a brief scan, maybe 5% for adequate comprehension.

Enthusiasts, I’d go 40% or higher. I find it hard to believe you are an “enthusiast” without being a deep learner. Most “Enthusiasts” who haven’t read the paper, seem like sheep.
