Everything online that isn’t cryptographically signed will soon be considered fake. Everything that is cryptographically signed will be considered only as trustworthy as the signer.

I disagree. The NSA has everyone's keys, so signing doesn't matter much, because of that upstream truth. Bad actors need to be punished in the physical world. That's how you protect the digital world. Some things never change.

Fits well with the partisan story in media/public discourse. Chaos in yellow journalism era. Everyone agrees during 3 cable news channels era. Chaos again post internet in fake new era. The news was always just someone’s opinion; we are just now returning to nature state of many many opinions.

We’ve seen this evolution through PGP/GPG, which failed largely due to key management and lack of useable infrastructure. Web3 will bring back the Web of Trust ✨

Gut reaction is that a system like this would be used to keep people in check. Ranked signatures. No room for subversion. Costs associated with speech. Restricting people to a single policeable identity. Results along those lines, no?
