When clicking on a link in Warpcast mobile, would you prefer: 1. Open in Safari / Chrome 2. In-app browser
could it be to a browser of my choice? (like firefox or arc) if not i’ll go with 1
I guess this is an unpopular opinion, but 2. Most webpages I visit from a social media app are just for a quick read. When I want to save it for later, it's easy enough to click "open in chrome". I prefer not to pollute my main browser with tons of tabs I don't plan on revisiting.
2 - i think twitter has it right in this case. the in-app browser has a safari/browser button on the bottom right if you do want to create a new tab in browser. reduces clutter https://warpcast.com/riotgoools/0x942ba0
For Android, id expect an in app chrome custom tab https://developer.chrome.com/docs/android/custom-tabs/
ps. launching new browser tab is the worst for links to tweets (with image, etc). i just want to look to the meme or whatever and dismiss it right after but sometimes i find myself with 10 tabs open with random ppls tweets at the end of the day 🤷🏻♀️
1. I have a lot of custom security settings on my primary browser that embedded browsers will just happily ignore. In app browsers are 😫.
1 Sometimes I get lost between mobile app tabs looking for an app. It turns out I’m not seeing it because it has an in-app browser window open which I mistakenly think of one of my browser apps.
2. i can manually open in Safari/Chrome if needed but prefer to stay in the app.
2 Technically it’s opening up safari but I don’t want to leave the context of warpcast
I’d like to be able to configure it to prefer either behavior based on a setting—ideally it should ask the first time I interact with it and be easy to change the behavior in settings
Conflict in FC must be driving DAUs. 😜 1 but if you're counting time in app and wanna boost that number...🤑
Default browser of device > in app browser Because, now I can have both the open without there being a blockage
1 - for the love of all that is in app experience keep sending it to safari I almost always open links as new tabs to read later
In full browser. I find in app browsers rarely support all the features I want to use so I end up opening in app, then use the button to open in safari. Then I have to go back in the other app and exit the in app browser too.
#2 with a one-click option to open in default browser. It’s mostly needed when the link is to a pay walled website and i don’t want to sign in every time in the in app browser
Most in-app browsers don’t inherit the adblocker if I understand correctly, so I prefer external. Also I use Zerion browser on mobile to access Zora mints etc. would prefer that if it defaults in in-app that there’s an option to switch the setting to open in default browser app
2. In-app browser Because in my opinion people connect their account with the app. If the link opens in the safari/chrome they need to log in again in the browser. Which is a bit boring. So the second option will be good for me.
1 with in app browsers I experience issues with login, extension support, lose state easily when when switching apps
2 In-app browser on Friendtech is a total disaster. Doesn’t work most of the time .
Isnt the only point of 2 for tracking? Users would always choose 1 right?
2. So I can press back and be where I was, instead of having to manually close the tab and switch apps.
Buongiorno, Dan. Thank you for asking. Opening the default browser would be fine, so users can pick, themselves. I happen to use Brave. Other users have different preferences. Built-in browser may add more risk, and does add more work to you.
