Blocking third-party clients (Tweetbot) was the last straw for me

also there's no way to Export your email if you want to leave. Skiff is just great though and so hopefully it's on the roadmap.

Did lead me to check out @multicoincap where ironically all their tweets are now deleted, 'spose you gotta take advantage of those Web 2.0 social features while they're still there ;)

Nice Farcaster overview at 2022 Multicoin Summit - neatly lays out the crypto OG user base approach versus say Lens bottoms-up approach focusing on attracting the web3 creators. Be interesting to see how/where these "meet in the middle". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW9-dEOSX8A

Once humans are involved in mechanism execution then "credibly neutral" is gone :( Adding transparency helps but does not solve. Rather web3 social needs *pluggable* algorithms so can contrast feed from diff perspectives e.g. the app's content moderation team vs PensionerModDAO where members are validated aged 65+ :)

No need to actively collaborate unless you’re interested in Urbit’s p2p compute vision btw: I do think there’s reasons to be interested e.g. discouraging centralised systems, sovereign control of your data

Think it’s definitely a useful hook. Creator/fan communities are certainly a web3 thing and those aspiring creators need too see a way to get paid. Does not mean FC should do same but having an explicit opinion on whether it’s going to be in the protocol or clients would help (and can always change your mind late

Don’t think they’re in competition. Uqbar smart contracts are native Hoon and so it’s exclusively focused on Urbit. Means it’s not one of those general-purpose potentially ‘cannibalistic’ L2’s (that certain ETH killer chains maintain are going to eat ETH)

Thinks it’s really Urbit (Uqbar L2) + Ethereum
