Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning superb story and unique gameplay, studio died sadly after pivoting it from an MMO. feels like solo WoW kinda

Huntdown Great balance of an old school side scroller, along with an enjoyable aesthetic

Return of the Obra Dinn is also worth checking out. Great story and execution. Probably the best puzzle game I've played in the last 10 years

Disco Elysium, got a lot of critical acclaim but I don’t know if it got played a lot. The best writing I’ve ever seen in a video game

It actually does have a cult following, but it took me a long time to discover Braid by Jonathan Blow.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It was the best multiplayer game ever. Quake-level fast, extremely demanding and focused on teamwork. If I could make one game popular again, it'd be RTCW.
