Always has been! Hard to get concrete data on grey markets and thus skeptics always dismiss as not real. But if you spend time in these communities its clearly the biggest non-speculative use case and already massive!

Most obvious use case involves hyper-inflated currencies and those are more easily found in emerging markets.
