Wondering what guidelines people in 🚾 are using to determine if you follow an account back. Who I follow seems less important everyday. 👏 Yet, the social signaling of not following back feels heavy.
In order I look at - Casts Bio Invited by whom Then one level down (if not @dwr) Takes about 10 - 20 seconds, but feed has improved drastically
💯 I follow back almost anybody unless they are a bot, spammy, or I’m actively not interested I follow users who are following 1K+ profiles but don’t follow me back and I take it very personally
To be honest if I see more than 1 person in the "followed you" notification I do not check them out because it's a UI hurdle I do not want to take. Otherwise I generally follow the person back and if they drown out the rest of my feed¹ I unfollow them again. ¹ I strictly use the (reverse) chronological feed.
I think it depends what you are doing w/ FC. If we are at 5K people or whatever and someone is willing to come here to check it out and they take time to write a decent bio, I'll follow them and not worry about my TL. My TL is FC is an experiment not where I go for the best of today's stuff.
