Normally you'd put sugar in tomato dishes to balance out the acidity, but I like how it contrasts they blandness of the egg yolks There are a lot of recipes but I just do onions, cherry tomatoes + some concentrate, egg in (don't break the yolks!) and cover so they cook all around but stay runny

oh yeah and a shitton of spice don't know about the original recipe but I use Ras El Hanout then fresh coriander leaves, fresh lemon juice and fresh chillies

I’ve been eating shakshuka my whole life, and I’ve never tried putting sugar in! I’ll try it next time, but I personally think it doesn’t need sugar. If you want sweetness, you can make the veg ratio is 2:1:1 onion:tomato:bell pepper.
