By now I'm sure many of you are tired of hearing me moan about how this industry is obsessed with blind hopium, especially around infra tokens, while completely neglecting what actually matters and reality So might as well just say my piece https://polynya.mirror.xyz/e54yv9c2im2Fy72jxbA2qKfCvWxjAaMnQUbp5YDqaEY
Fwiw everything you’ve said has resonated with me and I really appreciate the rant Also quite disillusioned abt how much capital chases nonsense still
What do you think will enable capital to move from infra to apps? Is it the realization that even though there are still experiments to run (new DA layers, new state model, etc) we have enough infra so capital can move to the app layer? Or do you think there are still unsolved technical barriers?
It’s the truth !!! Hard pills 💊 to swallow for many. The responsibility to fund what matters most could be part of what gets you special privileges in the long run. Most are here for fame or short term gains. The real shift in the narrative happens from setting a positive example for others to follow. Pray. 🙏
Perfect summary. For #1. I’m optimistic eth will win as SoV, especially once monetary policy ossifies. Eg, modulate issuance to target 20% of ether staked. The core economics are just so much better. May take a while but sustainability eventually translates into legitimacy.
Do you know any L2s doing these campaigns? I guess BASE might be planning something given their financial origins
I am honestly still pretty amazed at how few protocols and firms do basic marketing, BD, and sales to target regular consumers. At least from what I can tell. Coinbase being one exception. Crypto has SOO much to offer, but the main marketing engine has been CT and the corresponding shilling and hero-worship.
But that's just Darwin — survival of the busiest, right? Thought this bear market would've cleaned those ghost chains. Financial models look pretty sketch for VCs without on-chain economic activity. And VCs aren't seeing returns unless they flip investments in new rounds, betting on potential over actual revenues.
one issue with the L2s is that the constant up and down of new ones and failing ones doesn't allow a true dominant player with awesome tech to be established. Polygon exists, but outside the OP/Arbitrums are still rather new. Once Layer2 Infra improves there may be more applications built on it freeing mainnet space
Excellent post. Thank you for sharing. What is the path for Bitcoin to solve its long-term network sustainability problem?
So true. And application we need to focus on Store of value Stable coins RW /synethic assets Dexs Lending & Borrowing Betting / gambling Identity & social
