There is this weird opinion that unlike the very online, normies are indifferent/apathetic to politics and are just absorbed in their narrow normie lives This is 100% untrue. They’re all powerfully committed to unexamined politics, and their absorption in narrow lives is the most political thing on the planet

I think this is true for the middle and lower middle classes (most of America) but not really the working class. They’re mostly tuned out

some people (me & most of my friends) are aware of their political beliefs and don't follow news & political commentators because they can't swing our POV. e.g., what would need to happen so that instead of supporting biden you support trump? some big watergate-level event that would reach you anyway so why waste time

i dont know. i know lots and lots of normies in their 20s (big city, emerging white collar professionals) and almost none of them give a thought to politics in their day-to-day basically all just genuinely feel that politics is a waste of time, & following the same party as their parents whether or not they realize it
