what are your thoughts around money and crypto apps? is crypto about money? is crypto about more than money?
I feel like it's more about the qualia you get when you are transacting, collecting, etc. Those things can cost money, sure, but I'd like to think it's also about permanence and coordination and providing a modular way of doing so.
Crypto is about networks and hierarchies, with money being one such network/hierarchy!
Transparency and just a better payment system than the traditional on. Much more suited for the modern world
Crypto is more than money — what guns are to preserving physical freedom and independence from oppressive forces, crypto is to preserving digital freedom and independence from oppressive forces.
I still have not seen a non-money use case that _needs_ crypto, but I'm open to finding one.
Depends on the blockchain. Bitcoin is only about money. Smart contract blockchains are much, much more. https://theworldcomputer.org
my thought is that much like social media was the "killer app" for the internet, defi is undeniably the "killer app" for crypto (although many other applications like decentralized social, identities, gaming etc will run on crypto rails) the biggest marketcap will go to a financial application
crypto could be better spent on more things w/o trading away the vibe with NFTs & DeFi. it's definitely not mature in the sense that people easily live off it while having fun.
Crypto is about preserving and transferring digital value, which is why there can’t be a middle man able to track, seize or dilute it.
money is crypto’s first killer app, email was the internet’s first killer app money is the incentive that kick starts coordination the hope is crypto continues to reduce coordination costs at scale
