Looking forward to reading the full post. This argument comes up often and I think it usually boils down to the business/revenue model. If it’s ads, you need people locked into your platform. If it’s subscriptions like Substack and Substack takes a cut of your revenue, they need you locked to make money.

So crypto comes and allows a new business model based on tokens where you can create a product that is free to use and contributors share in upside by getting tokens for their actions that bring value to the platform. But if tokens are under threat…what is another business model we can use that still achieves the goa
