I’d like to work on open source farming robots one day. https://community.twistedfields.com/t/a-closer-look-at-acorn-our-open-source-precision-farming-rover/108
Non-industrial scale farming is a luxury good though? Not that efficient at producing food for people.
Preach. Side pet dream: own small local farm managed by autonomous drones that delivers food daily.
We have a film script about robot farming - currently shelved as we work on The Fringe. But man, what a fascinating world to dig into
Yes! This is much less sophisticated, but Neversink Tools is a fun example of a farmer making (and selling) their own tech https://www.neversinktools.com/
Me too!!! The challenge here seems to be having an efficient and flexible manufacturing system to rapidly iterate at hardware level. Not many people have days to dedicate to the building, but LOTS know how to design better machinery...
you can try this one out first. no farm needed https://github.com/ClemensElflein/OpenMower
Definitely! There’s already so much closed source farming machinery that literally won’t let farmers repair themselves or using unauthorised technicians.
